I’m not in a particularly good mood at the moment. I had a doctor’s appointment a few hours ago and I’m just not a happy camper. Although he didn’t say anything today about my weight, I know it will come up a month from now when he’s insisting I come in for a physical. I know I need to do something about my weight, but I know his ideas, which irritate me no end because he doesn’t believe in giving the option to make changes a little at a time. He wants everything changed at once, without wavering at all. Yeah, he forgets I’m not a robot. *sigh*

I suppose the first change will be to stop drinking pop/soda. Man I’m going to miss my soda. I’m just not sure if I should go cold-turkey on the soda or gradually. Most people say gradually, but frankly, I have a problem with remembering to not drink soda once I get soda to drink. The nurse said to try using those flavored waters that every grocery store seems to have now, carbonated water with a bit of fruit flavor added, but the doctor said that even those aren’t good for me and that if I do use them to break the soda habit, I’ll have to break myself of those afterwards. He doesn’t even like the idea of my using the Crystal Light packets to flavor the water with. He wants me to drink plain water. Bleh. LOL Our water here tastes nasty. And I don’t want to pay the price of bottled water. That’s too darned high! Besides, it’s not good for the environment. And I can’t afford to get the filters and the like.

So it’s off to diet for me. Yay.

One of the things that bothers me to no end is the show The Biggest Loser. Not because I don’t support them attempting to help people get thinner and healthier. But the concept of the show appalls me. Offering a cash prize to the person who loses the most weight – that just doesn’t seem right to me. First off, these people are taking off massive amounts of weight – in a short period of time. That doesn’t seem very healthy regardless of the fact that I’m sure there are doctors working with them. Also, how do they know these people want to be thin and don’t just want the money? What, is there a hidden clause in the rules that states if you put the weight back on, you have to pay back your prize money?

Maybe it’s just my general dislike of reality TV coming out, but I just don’t think this show is appropriate.

I hate the taste of water. Or more specifically – the tap water that is available to us where I work. It’s disgusting. It’s not filtered and it tastes like – well…. let’s just say a coworker of mine calls it “ass water.” Yeah. Ick. But I’m drinking it even though I hate it. I don’t have much choice. I’m out of crystal light packets and I don’t have money for a diet coke. LOL

Ok, so maybe this isn’t what you’d normally consider to be an exercise goal, but hey. What I’d like to be able to do is participate in a charity walk. There are several, from the various Breast Cancer walks, to Alzheimer’s walks, even to walks at NASCAR tracks before the races to benefit charities such as the Victory Junction Gang. So I have plenty of inspiration – I just have to choose the walk I want to go on, find out the information about it, and start training for it. Even if I can’t get to the walk within the next year – these charity walks tend to be yearly events, and even if the one I choose happens to be discontinued for some reason, I can still find a different event to go for. Now, to get off my arse and start walking. 🙂
