The Biggest Loser

One of the things that bothers me to no end is the show The Biggest Loser. Not because I don’t support them attempting to help people get thinner and healthier. But the concept of the show appalls me. Offering a cash prize to the person who loses the most weight – that just doesn’t seem right to me. First off, these people are taking off massive amounts of weight – in a short period of time. That doesn’t seem very healthy regardless of the fact that I’m sure there are doctors working with them. Also, how do they know these people want to be thin and don’t just want the money? What, is there a hidden clause in the rules that states if you put the weight back on, you have to pay back your prize money?

Maybe it’s just my general dislike of reality TV coming out, but I just don’t think this show is appropriate.
